Last updated: July 2026. This policy explains how LeavingMalta.com ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares your personal data, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
LeavingMalta.com is a Malta-based platform helping people relocate from Malta. For any data question, contact us at Leavingtheislandquicksale@gmail.com, our point of contact for all privacy matters.
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect: your name, email address, phone number, intended destination country, moving timeline, and details about your relocation needs that you voluntarily enter into our forms (quiz, checklist download, partner quote requests). We also collect anonymous analytics data (page views, device type, approximate country) via cookies.
We use your data to: (a) send you the resource you requested (e.g. checklist PDF); (b) respond to your enquiries; (c) where you have given explicit consent, connect you with relevant vetted partner companies (such as removal firms, money-transfer services, insurers and storage providers) so they can contact you with quotes; and (d) send occasional relevant updates about leaving Malta, which you can opt out of at any time.
We only share your details with partner companies when you have ticked the consent box on a quote-request form. In that case, the specific information you provided (name, contact details, destination, timeline and needs) is shared with the relevant category of vetted partners so they can send you quotes for the service you asked about. We do not share your data with partners if you have not given this consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing us, and we will stop sharing your data going forward.
We process your data on the basis of: your consent (for partner sharing and marketing updates), and our legitimate interest (to respond to enquiries and operate the site). You can withdraw consent at any time.
We use essential cookies (required for functionality), analytics cookies (to understand traffic patterns), and preference cookies (to remember your choices). You may decline non-essential cookies via the cookie banner.
We use FormSubmit.co (form processing), and may use analytics and community tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to: access your data; correct it; delete it ("right to be forgotten"); restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; and request a copy of your data (portability). To exercise any of these, email us and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Maltese data protection authority (IDPC).
Contact details submitted for quotes are retained only as long as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations, then deleted. Marketing email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data follows standard provider retention periods.
Some links on this site (for example, to money-transfer services such as Wise and Revolut) are affiliate or referral links. This means we may earn a commission or referral bonus if you sign up through them, at no extra cost to you. We only recommend services we consider genuinely useful for people leaving Malta, but you should always do your own checks before using any third-party service.
When we connect you with a partner company (removals, letting, money transfer, insurance, storage, legal or similar), that company is an independent business. We are not responsible for the services, quotes, pricing or conduct of partner companies. Any contract you enter into is directly between you and that partner. We simply introduce you.
Some of our partners or service providers may be based outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where your data is transferred outside the EEA, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled with an adequate level of protection, in line with GDPR requirements.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including serving the site over a secure HTTPS connection. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
This site is intended for adults handling their own relocation. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Significant changes will be reflected here, and continued use of the site means you accept the updated policy.
